In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. This date commemorates the adoption of the US flag on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Join the Chicago History Museum for an afternoon of flag-related activities.
The event begins with a panel discussion, moderated by author and Chicago Sun-Times editorial board member Lee Bey, with artists and historians on flags as symbols of freedom and unification, as well as Cook County’s new flag design. Activities include a chance to design your own banner, a display of items from our collection that have rallied people together, and giveaways from American Heritage Chocolate.
