First, watch a scene from a popular film about President Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to end slavery in the United States. We will discuss the political pressures of the time and reasons for amending the Constitution.
Then, examine a reproduction of the desk that was used when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law in 1965.
Last, take a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol featuring some of the Americans whose extraordinary actions changed the course of U.S. civil rights history.
