Pittsburgh’s Heinz History Center is hosting a civics-themed photo contest. Open to high schoolers and undergraduates (who will compete in separate categories), it seeks to inspire Western Pennsylvanians to reflect upon the state of their civic community or the nature of their democracy. Photos taken in any of Western Pennsylvania’s 26 counties that in some way exhibit civic themes will be accepted. Participants are encouraged to think creatively about how to capture such themes in a photograph this Civic Season!

Be sure to submit during Civic Season – Juneteenth to July 4th!
