DESCRIPTION:The late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg\, recognized for her groundbreaking judicial work and commitment to gender equity and human rights\, will posthumously receive the National Museum of American History’s highest honor—the Great Americans Medal. \nHer children Jane C. Ginsburg\, J.D.\, and James S. Ginsburg will accept the medal on their mother’s behalf in this virtual program. They also will donate significant artifacts representing the Justice’s Supreme Court career and speak with the museum’s Elizabeth MacMillan Director Anthea M. Hartig\, Ph.D.\, to share their memories of Justice Ginsburg and reflect upon her legacy. \nThis capstone Women’s History Month event also features biographical videos and tributes from Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III\, President Jimmy Carter\, Senator Tammy Duckworth\, Billie Jean King\, Cecile Richards\, Chief Justice John G. Roberts\, Jr.\, Deborah Rutter\, Gloria Steinem\, Bryan Stevenson\, Barbra Streisand\, Nina Totenberg\, Diane von Furstenberg\, Darren Walker\, and Oprah Winfrey. David M. Rubenstein and political history curator Lisa Kathleen Graddy also will make remarks.
