SUMMARY:Resilience Amid Resistance: Pay As You Can Exhibition Admission
DESCRIPTION:Discover history made by students as told by students. \nThis Civics Season\, pay as you can to step into Resilience Amid Resistance—a groundbreaking exhibit created entirely by Rockingham County high school students who dared to ask: “How can we right history?” (A play of the words: right and write.) \nThrough original research\, community interviews\, and visits to historic civil rights sites\, including the Moton Museum\, these young historians traced Virginia’s complex road to school integration from Reconstruction to today—while bringing to light empowering stories from Harrisonburg and Rockingham County’s own civil rights chapter. \nMuseum admission fees waived June 3 – July 5\, 2025

SUMMARY:“Feast of Reason”: A Dinner Discussion Across Divides
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Carpenters’ Hall\, Philadelphia’s “Meeting Place of History\,” on June 25 for a unique evening of food and fellowship as part of Civic Season\, a national initiative administered by the Smithsonian Institution to strengthen our democracy. Inspired by our friends at Monticello\, who are re-creating Thomas Jefferson’s legendary dinner parties\, and by the shared sense of American unity and identity that bloomed at Carpenters’ Hall during the First Continental Congress\, Carpenters’ Hall and the Dialogue Institute are pleased to host our own “Feast of Reason.” This intimate and informal dinner gathering–limited to 24 people–will include a facilitated discussion about how to engage in effective personal dialogue across political\, religious or other differences. Your ticket includes a light summer meal and a toolkit of civil-discourse techniques. People of all ages (Gen Z especially!) and political persuasions are encouraged to attend.
