DESCRIPTION:Civic Season is celebrating the power of community building\, with sites serving as vibrant third spaces—places where connections are formed\, history is shared\, and ideas turn into action. \nTudor Place will offer spaces for participants to share their thoughts on the past and present to build networks for the future. Through talk back boards\, an art craft\, a mocktail\, live music (6pm -7pm) a look at collection objects from the 1920s and more\, we hope that this Tudor Tuesday event brings people together to create a stronger community. \nVisitors are welcome to bring a picnic (blankets and camp chairs permitted\, no red wine or red/purple juices allowed). Be sure to remove all trash. Trash receptacles are not provided. Due to the historic landscape\, games\, chairs with legs\, blow up furniture are not permitted. \nSuggested donation of $5 for those 18+ (but not required)

SUMMARY:Bound with PRIDE: A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:As part of the HBC’s 53rd Annual Members’ Exhibition\, book artists were given a unique opportunity to create original works using sections of a donated Gilbert Baker Rainbow Flag that once flew over Harvey Milk Plaza in San Francisco’s historic Castro district in which the flag was first created. \nSlippery\, synthetic\, and stubborn\, the fabric resisted precision—fraying\, warping\, and pushing back at every turn. Much like the queer identities and experiences it represents\, it demanded care\, patience\, and persistence. \nJoin us for a panel discussion exploring the resulting works: a spectrum of interpretations that reflect the challenges\, beauty\, and meaning embedded in the flag and the hands that shaped it. Meet some of the artists\, learn about their processes\, and hear about some of the challenges they encountered turning their vision into a book.

SUMMARY:Founding Friends\, Founding Foes Tour
DESCRIPTION:On July 4\, 1826\, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. \nIn preparation for the 250th anniversary in 2026\, Monticello’s new Founding Friends\, Founding Foes Tour explores their complicated relationship. Visitors will learn how Jefferson and Adams became allies in 1776\, bitter rivals in an age of partisanship\, and friends again in retirement. \nBy considering the challenges and triumphs of the American Revolution and the early United States\, this tour reveals how ordinary people became leaders and encourages visitors to consider how a democracy was born through disagreement\, civil discourse\, and dedication to shared values. \nFollowing the tour\, guests will participate in a Feast of Reason on the mountaintop. Named for dinners that Jefferson hosted and known for their good food and interesting conversation\, the Feast of Reason is a new card deck that facilitates conversations on history and democracy over food and drink.
